At an annual research festival held at Georgia Tech, we were given the opportunity to present our latest progress in research relating to MMP-14 and neural crest migration. With this presentation, we gave emphasis to neural crest cells and their EMT and mesenchymal migration acting as a faithful model for metastasizing cancer cells, the overexpression of matrix metalloproteinases observed in some human cancers, and the proposition of one of our tested chemical inhibitors (Prinomastat hydrochloride) as a potential chemotherapy agent. We believe that the findings of our research could hold value in understanding the metastasis of cancer cells and how this may be disrupted. From our previous presentation, added material pertained to experiments concerning explants and future experiments with the CRISPR/ cas9 system.
